Exploring Land's End: A Guide to Lover's Beach and Divorce Beach

02 April 2024

At the southernmost tip of the Baja California Peninsula, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez, lie two of the most exquisite and secluded stretches of sand: Lover's Beach and Divorce Beach. These pristine paradises, reachable only by watercraft, are part of the same geological formation as “The Arch” or El Arco, the iconic ragged rock that emerges majestically from the sea.

Lover's Beach, or Playa del Amor, is the most famous of the two and one of the most sought-after destinations in Los Cabos. Tucked amidst two prominent granite rock formations, this hidden cove offers stunning views of Medano Beach and the entire coastline stretching from Cabo San Lucas to Punta Ballena.

To reach the secluded shore of Lover's Beach, visitors must embark on a panga (water taxi) or glass-bottom boat from the Cabo San Lucas Marina or Medano Beach. After a delightful trip by sea, encountering sea lions and marveling at The Arch, you're greeted with an idyllic setting, perfect for unwinding, basking in the warm sun, and perhaps organizing a picnic or taking a refreshing plunge into the crystalline waters. But most importantly, allow yourself to be enveloped by the magical landscape of water-shaped rock formations, soft sand, and the azure sea, characteristic
of Los Cabos.

From Lover’s Beach, walk through a small canyon to Divorce Beach, or Playa del Divorcio. This sprawling stretch of soft sand and strikingly eroded rock formations offers panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and dramatic waves crashing upon the shore. It's essential to remember that swimming is prohibited at Divorce Beach due to strong rip currents.

Two beaches connected, yet with very different personalities, inviting contemplation, relaxation, adventure, and plenty of photo-worthy moments.

Additionally, guided tours of Land's End landmarks, such as The Arch and Pelican Rock, often include stops at Lover's Beach. Remember to pack essentials like sunscreen, water, a towel, snacks, and any other necessities for your trip, and always remember to respect the natural environment during your stay.

Whether you seek tranquility, romance, or adventure, Lover's Beach and Divorce Beach are two gems at the edge of the world, inviting you to experience the stunning beauty of the desert-meets-sea landscape unique to the Baja California Peninsula.
